When Bob Stoops hung up the whistle at Oklahoma, he went down as the winningest coach in school history, and arguably the best coach in the history of the Big 12.
Stoops’ Sooners dominated the Big 12 from 1999-2016, winning 10 Big 12 titles, one national championship in four title appearances.
His exit from Norman was rather unexpected, and it was even more surprising when he took over as the head coach of the Dallas (now Arlington) Renegades, and led them to an XFL title in 2023.
The 2025 season hasn’t gone very well for Stoops and the Renegades, though, as they currently hold a 3-5 record and rank fifth in the eight-team league and were eliminated from UFL Playoff contention with a 33-30 loss to the DC Defenders on Sunday.
During that game, Stoops wanted to challenge a ruling on the field, leading a UFL official to explain the rules to him.
The interaction was recorded, and from the looks of it, Stoops wasn’t too happy about the league’s unorthodox rulebook.
You can hear the official explain to Stoops that the rule in question is “A UFL rule,” to which Stoops replied, “You’ve got some f—ed up rules,” he said, followed by a frustrated laugh.
