One of college basketball’s veteran journeymen, Texas Tech forward Devan Cambridge, has a new home in the Big 12.
Cambridge, a 6-foot-6 forward from Nashville, Tennessee, has committed to join Johnny Dawkins and the UCF Knights for his seventh year of eligibility.
With his commitment to UCF, Cambridge will join his fourth team in seven seasons, three of which are current members of the Big 12 Conference (Arizona State, Texas Tech, UCF).
Cambridge played just six games in 2024-25 for the Red Raiders, recording 5.5 points and 3.5 rebounds per game. He connected on 59.1% of shots from the field, 57.1% from three, and 75% from the free-throw line.
Coming out of Hillcrest Prep in the Class of 2019, Cambridge was listed as a three-star prospect by the 247Sports index and the nation’s 201st-ranked player. He also checked in as the 48th-ranked player at his position and the sixth-ranked player in the state of Arizona.

The transfer portal officially opened on Monday, March 24, 2025. According to NCAA data, 1,296 FBS basketball players entered the transfer portal in the 2023-24 school year, with 864 (66.7%) undergraduates and 432 (33.3%) graduate transfers. Of the entrants, 70% reported that they enrolled in another school, 6% withdrew their names from the portal, and 23% are still active, transferred to a non-NCAA school, or left their sport.
