In a recent WNBA matchup between the Indiana Fever and Chicago Sky, Angel Reese was fouled by Caitlin Clark in a move that has the internet up in arms.
While many have already given their take on the technical foul on both sides of the argument, things got personal between Ryan Clark and Robert Griffin III, former ESPN coworkers, and some personal attacks were thrown around.
Griffin III, a notable presence on social media, gave his take on the situation, mentioning that the majority of the backlash stems from the fact that Angel Reese hates Caitlin Clark. Ryan Clark took offense to the notion, citing racism as the reason for the internet roasting Angel Reese, and set his sights on Griffin and attacked his home life.
“Caitlin Clark is the most important player in the WNBA,” Clark said. “A ton of her fandom has come along with racial bias or some racial pieces on why people love her so much. If you’re RG3, when was the last time within your household that you’ve had a conversation about what she [Angel Reese] is dealing with?”
“You haven’t been able to do that because in both of your marriages, you’ve been married to white women,” Clark continued. “You haven’t had opportunities to have those conversations to educate you on what they’re feeling, and what black women deal with.”
Clark then mentioned his previous conversations with Griffin and alleged that one of his main reasons for liking his wife is her skin color.
Understandably, Robert Griffin III wasn’t pleased with Clark’s accusations and responded with a video of his own.
“There’s a line you don’t cross in life, and Ryan Clark sprinted past it,” Griffin said. “Ryan Clark didn’t like my take on Angel Reese hating Caitlin Clark. That’s fine. Disagreement is part of the game. But instead of debating my point, he personally attacked me and my family. That shows how low of a person he is.”
While nothing is ever set in stone in the constantly changing world of sports media, the beef between Ryan Clark and RG3 appears to have existed for some time and will likely continue.
