Arizona State quarterback Sam Leavitt is putting his NIL money to good use, with a generous donation to support the Pat Tillman Foundation.
Leavitt reportedly donated $15,000 to the organization, supporting military veterans and Arizona State alumni, including Pat Tillman and many notable others.
The Pat Tillman Foundation was named after legendary safety Pat Tillman, who was selected in the 7th round of the 1998 NFL Draft and spent three seasons with the Arizona Cardinals before giving up his NFL career to enlist in the Army. Tillman served in Iraq and in Afghanistan, but was tragically killed by friendly fire in 2004.
Prior to his time in the NFL, Tillman was a member of the Arizona State Sun Devils, where he generated some serious buzz in Tempe. In 1997, Tillman was named the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year for posting a team-high 93 tackles, 15 TFLs, four sacks, and three interceptions, en route to a win over Iowa in the 1997 Sun Bowl.
“The Pat Tillman Foundation identifies remarkable military service members, veterans, and spouses, empowering them with academic scholarships, lifelong leadership development opportunities, and a diverse, global community of high-performing mentors and peers,” the website reads. “These scholars are making an impact as they lead through action in the fields of healthcare, business, public service, STEM, education, and the humanities.”
