With the 2025 college football season just around the corner, Athlon Sports released its All-Big 12 Team predictions.
Arizona State took the nation by storm, clinching the Big 12 title in the program’s first season competing in the conference since departing from the Pac 12.
Quarterback Sam Leavitt played an instrumental role in ASU’s historic season, throwing for 2,885 yards and 24 touchdowns to just six interceptions in 2024. He also showcased his versatility, rushing for 443 yards and five touchdowns.
As a result, Athlon predicted that Leavitt will secure first-team honors at the quarterback position. With high expectations heading into his second season with the Sun Devils, he will have the opportunity to lead ASU right back to the College Football Playoff.
Three household names are expected to be key parts of their team’s offense at the running back position including Jahiem White (West Virginia), Dylan Edwards (Kansas State) and Bryson Washington (Baylor).
Athlon foresees White, Edwards and Washington all becoming first-team recipients. Last season, White tallied 845 yards, while Edwards finished with 546 and Washington tallied 1,028.
At the wide receiver position, Arizona State’s Jordyn Tyson, BYU’s Chase Roberts and TCU’s Eric McAllister made the list. Tyson had a strong season in 2024, eclipsing over 1,000 yards and hauling in 10 touchdowns.
Roberts and McAlister each received over 750 yards last season and expect to have big roles in their team’s respective offenses.
Cincinnati tight end Joe Royer is the lone player at his position to be named, following his impressive showing last season. He averaged 10.4 yards per catch and caught three touchdowns with the Bearcats.
The Big 12 consists of some of the top offensive linemen in the country, as Athlon predicts Ben Coleman (Arizona State), Bryce Foster (Kansas), Jordan Seaton (Colorado), Spencer Fano (Utah) and Caleb Lonu (Utah) to all make first-team honors.
Defensively, linebackers Isaiah Glasker (BYU) and Keaton Thomas (Baylor) headline several players of whom also have high expectations heading into 2025.
Iowa State defensive back Jontez Williams recorded 23 tackles, while also tallying four interceptions last season. He headlines the players at his position who are sought out to be first-team talents, including Colorado’s DJ McKinney, Arizona State’s Xavion Alford and TCU’s Bud Clark.
