FOX Sports lead analyst Joel Klatt recently shared the top five individual performances he has ever called from the broadcast booth.
Three of those standout moments came from Big 12 games, each leaving a lasting mark on his memory.
At No. 3, Klatt placed Baker Mayfield’s epic performance against Oklahoma State in 2017. Mayfield threw for 598 yards and five touchdowns in that Bedlam shootout, nearly matching the FBS record for passing yardage and defining one of the loudest games in conference history. Klatt described it as one of college football’s most unforgettable offensive displays.
In the No. 2 spot, Klatt featured two-way superstar Travis Hunter’s outing against TCU in 2023. Hunter delivered both as a receiver and defensive back, producing game‑changing plays on both sides of the ball. Klatt called it the second-best individual effort he has ever witnessed.
Topping the list at No. 1 was Tavon Austin’s night against Oklahoma in 2012. Playing running back for West Virginia in a surprise positional shift, Austin rushed for 344 yards and added 82 receiving yards. His 426 total yards in a single game felt surreal. Klatt said he “was coming out of his skin” every time Austin touched the ball. The then-No. 3 Sooners still won 50‑49, but Austin’s performance earned its place at the top.
