Major Offensive Line Shakeup for the Texas Longhorns

Syndication: Austin American-Statesman

Texas offensive tackle Andre Cojoe will miss the entire 2025 season after suffering a knee injury during fall camp, according to multiple reports.

The redshirt sophomore had been expected to compete for the starting right tackle job and was considered a strong candidate to win the position.

Cojoe, who stands 6-foot-6 and weighs 335 pounds, entered preseason camp after a promising offseason that included significant physical development and improved consistency in practice. His size and strength made him a natural fit for the Longhorns’ run game, and he was projected to be a key piece in protecting Arch Manning this fall.

With Cojoe sidelined, sophomore Brandon Baker is now the frontrunner for the right tackle spot. Baker, a former highly rated recruit, has been working with the first-team unit and will now have the opportunity to lock down the role before the opener. Behind him, true freshman Nick Brooks and reserve Robert Sweeney are expected to provide depth, though both are largely untested at the college level.

Offensive line coach Kyle Flood had identified the right tackle competition as one of the most important position battles in camp. The loss of Cojoe removes one of the more experienced options from the mix and adds pressure on the younger players to step up quickly.

Cojoe’s absence will be felt both in the running game and in pass protection. Texas opens the season on August 30 with a road trip to Ohio State, a matchup that will require the offensive line to be sharp from the start.

While the Longhorns still have talent in the trenches, losing a player of Cojoe’s caliber before the first game is a major setback for their 2025 plans.
