Kansas State OT George Fitzpatrick Seen at Practice Amid Recovery

Kansas State offensive tackle George Fitzpatrick was back around his teammates on Monday morning, watching preseason practice in Manhattan and offering encouragement as the Wildcats went through blocking drills.

Fitzpatrick, dressed in street clothes, spent time interacting with players and coaches, showing support as he continues recovering from what head coach Chris Klieman has previously referred to as a “medical situation.”

The junior lineman has already been ruled out for Kansas State’s Week 0 matchup against Iowa State in Dublin, Ireland, but Monday’s appearance was an encouraging development. Fitzpatrick’s presence on the sideline provided a visible boost to the offensive line unit, which is preparing for one of the earliest and most unique openers in program history.

While the specifics of Fitzpatrick’s medical situation have not been disclosed, team sources have maintained optimism that he could return to action sooner rather than later. His recovery timeline remains unclear, but his involvement at practice, even in a limited capacity, signals progress toward rejoining team activities.

Fitzpatrick, a 6-foot-6, 310-pound tackle, is entering his first season with Kansas State after transferring from Ohio State. He appeared in multiple games for the Buckeyes last fall and was projected to compete for a starting role this season. His combination of size, mobility, and experience is expected to be an asset for an offensive line tasked with protecting quarterback Avery Johnson and establishing a consistent running attack.

In his absence, Kansas State will continue working through depth options on the edge. Coaches have praised the versatility within the unit, but Fitzpatrick’s return will be a welcome boost when it comes. For now, seeing him on the sideline, engaged and encouraging teammates, is a positive step forward.
