Even though the Big 12 season officially started in Ireland with Farmaggedon, which apparently some people don’t like calling, I still felt a bit of an emptiness inside. Sure, Kansas played too but I didn’t get that feeling that Big 12 football is back.

But starting today, that all goes away because every single team in the conference will kickoff over the next few days!

Big 12 Thursday Slate

It all starts Thursday with UCF, Oklahoma State, Houston, and Cincinnati. And no disrespect to the first three schools I mentioned, but all eyes will be on the Cincinnati vs. Nebraska game at Arrowhead.

I would love nothing more than to ruin Nebraska fans season in Week 1, so we can continue their irrelevancy over the last 15 years. Plus, their quarterback Dylan Raiola is the biggest Patrick Mahomes wannabe I have ever seen. If nothing else, Raiola is easy to root against. Cincinnati could crush a lot of Huskers dreams on Thursday.

Big 12’s Friday Fun

Friday is when things really start to heat up. Outside of the Kansas vs. Wagner game, we get two incredible non-conference matchups. Baylor hosts Auburn which gives the Big 12 to knock off a team from the almighty SEC. Then you get Georgia Tech at Colorado, and I don’t know about you, but I have not clue what to expect in that game. But we get a Colorado team that a lot of people don’t have faith in, against a team some are calling an ACC dark horse. It’s another opportunity for the Big 12 to make a statement.

Saturday’s Busy Slate

While Saturday may not have the best matchups, it is where you will find the most football. Rich Rod comes back home for the first time, Iowa State is facing their former quarterback (Aidan Bouman) and Kansas State looks to bounce back against North Dakota.

We will also get to see what Texas Tech looks like along with BYU and Arizona State. And for you late night degenerate gamblers like me, Saturday has the perfect night cap with Arizona taking on Hawaii while Utah heads out west to the Rose Bowl.

Don’t Forget About Monday

Last but certainly not least is the senior bowl on Labor Day. The reason I call it that is because North Carolina’s head coach Bill Belichick is old enough to be his girlfriend’s great grandfather. Seriously, I feel like I know more about his girlfriend than the actual team itself. Either way, I would love for TCU crash those two love birds’ party.

Call up your buddies and tell your significant other that you will be busy all weekend because we have a jam packed Big 12 football slate ahead. Make sure you have plenty of great food and have your fridge and bar stocked with delicious beverages. So go ahead, sink in your favorite recliner, crack a cold one open and soak it the next few days of Big 12 action.
