Oklahoma State quarterback Hauss Hejny is expected to miss at least five weeks after suffering a left foot injury that will require surgery, according to a report from On3’s Pete Nakos.
Hejny sustained the injury during the first half of Oklahoma State’s season-opening 27-7 win over UT Martin. Before exiting the game, the true freshman completed five of 10 passes for 96 yards and a touchdown, showing early promise in his collegiate debut.
The former four-star prospect was one of the highest-rated signees in the Cowboys’ 2024 class and had earned the start to open the season. With Hejny sidelined, Oklahoma State turned to Zane Flores who stepped in and threw for 136 yards.
The Cowboys travel to take on national power house No. 7 Oregon in Week 2 without their starting quarterback.
“I won’t give injury updates either way,” OSU head coach Mike Gundy said via On3. “I never will know on those until the next day, anyway, but both of those guys weren’t in a position to come back. But I’ll know more on it later.”
Oklahoma State is coming off one of its worst seasons in program history in 2024 at 3-9, ending its run of 18-straight bowl game appearances.
