Things are not going well in Stillwater. Mike Gundy and the Oklahoma State Cowboys went to Eugene, Oregon and got absolutely crushed by the Ducks. As you can imagine, Oklahoma State folks were handling things well on social media. But for some reason, Mike Gundy’s son decided to go after Pistols Firing Blog podcaster Carson Cunningham over this post on X.
One of Gundy’s son, Gavin, responded with the following, “Imagine being this pathetic… you will never understand the size of balls it takes to do what he does… and how Oklahoma State would be completely irrelevant without him. So you can sit there and tweet all you want but you will never know what it takes to be successful in life.”

Can two things be true at once here? Absolutely. Oklahoma State is not where it is today without Mike Gundy. Also true: Oklahoma State not having the balls to go for it at the Oregon 42-yard line when it’s clear they aren’t going to win this game unless they take some major chances is a fair critique.
The situation is precarious in Stillwater. Gundy and the Pokes went 3-9 last season, including an 0-9 record in the Big 12. And while there’s reason to expect improvement this season, Saturday showed just how far this team is from competing at a national level, which was expected from OSU fans as recently as a couple of seasons ago.
But now, the Cowboys don’t look like they belong on the field with a team like the Oregon Ducks. And emotions are running high in Stillwater.
