BYU Basketball Player Arrested for Alleged DUI

NCAA Basketball: NCAA Tournament East Regional Practice

A member of BYU’s men’s basketball team, Kennard Davis Jr., was arrested Thursday morning for allegedly driving under the influence, according to KSLTV.

According to a press release from the Provo Police Department, officers responded to a crash at the intersection of 900 West Center St. at approximately 11:45 a.m. While responding to the crash, officers “found reason” to arrest one of the drivers, Davis, for “suspected DUI.” Davis is a player on BYU’s men’s basketball team.

Davis was taken to the Provo Police Station, where he was cited with DUI charges. He was then released to receive medical care for minor injuries he sustained during the crash. His car has been impounded.

Davis is a new face for the Cougars after spending two seasons at Southern Illinois. He averaged 10.3 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game while shooting 44.6 percent from the field, 35.4 percent from three and 73.8 percent from the free throw line. Last season, he was named a Second Team All-Missouri Valley Conference as a sophomore, finishing the season averaging 16.3 ppg and 4.9 rpg, while shooting 38% from three-point range.

In two games this season, Davis scored 12 points in the season-opening win vs. Holy Cross and then had six points against Villanova last week.

BYU is set to take on UConn on Saturday, with tip off at 6:00 p.m. CT on FOX.
