Kansas State just added a serious piece to its defensive future, as three-star defensive lineman Carnell Jackson Jr. committed to the Wildcats.
The 6-foot-3, 340-pound lineman out of Auburn High School in Alabama brings exactly the kind of physical presence that Kansas State wants anchoring the middle of its defensive front. He had previously been committed to Arkansas but reopened his recruitment following some staff turnover. That crack in the door gave the Wildcats a chance, and they didn’t waste it.
Jackson picked up a Kansas State offer late last month and wasted no time making it official. Now, he’s the latest name in a growing list of defensive additions that the Wildcats are banking on to keep the Big 12’s high-flying offenses in check.
Jackson is a grinder, strong at the point of attack, hard to move, and capable of eating up space. That kind of presence doesn’t always rack up sacks or fill the stat sheet, but it’s what allows the rest of the defense to do its job. For a team like K-State that leans on structure, discipline, and physicality, Jackson fits like a glove.
It also says a lot that Kansas State continues to dip into SEC country and win recruiting battles. Pulling a kid out of Alabama, especially one with SEC interest, is no easy task, and the staff deserves credit for getting this one across the finish line.
This may not be a splashy move, but it’s a smart one. If Jackson lives up to what the staff sees in him, he could become one of the more important pieces in the 2026 class. And knowing how K-State develops talent in the trenches, don’t be surprised if he turns into a name Big 12 offensive lines have to deal with for years.
