Bill Belichick showed up at a cheerleading competition this weekend, and no, that’s not a typo. The 71-year-old coaching legend was spotted in Raleigh, front and center to support his 24-year-old girlfriend, Jordon Hudson, who was performing with her coed adult cheerleading team.
That sentence alone feels like a glitch in the simulation.
The footage, which hit X over the weekend, shows Belichick chilling in the stands like he’s there to scout a prospect, not watch basket tosses and synchronized clapping. It’s not weird that he’s showing up to support someone he’s dating. That part’s fine. The part that makes your brain short-circuit is everything else around it.
First off, adult cheerleading teams are apparently a thing. Not sideline squads, not coaches, but full-grown adults doing choreographed routines and traveling for competitions like it’s an extension of high school nationals. And Jordon Hudson, a former pageant queen and college cheerleader, is still deep in it. Good for her if she loves it. But still, it’s not exactly where you expect to find a guy who made a career out of saying five words to the media and treating every game like national security.
Then there’s the fact that Belichick is dating someone 47 years younger than him. People will say age is just a number, and that’s cute for some until you realize Hudson was born the year Belichick won his first Super Bowl. She was in middle school when the Patriots went 16-0. That’s not just a gap, that’s an entire football dynasty between them.
None of this is illegal. It’s just bizarre. The whole scene is something out of a bad SNL sketch. The grumpy old football genius in a hoodie showing up to cheer practice like it’s the AFC Championship. You half expect him to pull out a laminated scouting report on the opposing stunt group.
Candidly, there’s no real analysis here. It’s just strange. Belichick went from game planning against Peyton Manning to posting up at adult cheerleading competitions like it’s the most natural thing in the world. The guy earned the right to do whatever he wants I guess, but nobody had this one on the bingo card.
