Aranda is in his sixth season at the helm, with the Bears sitting at 5-5 heading into Saturday’s road matchup against Arizona. A win would secure bowl eligibility.
The program has endured three losing seasons under Aranda but will look to turn things around in 2026. After a 12-2 campaign and Big 12 Championship in 2021, Baylor has failed to replicate that success, compiling a 22-26 record since.
While fan frustration may have grown, university leadership is giving Aranda another year to course-correct and restore momentum. With a new athletic director on the horizon, 2026 could prove to be a pivotal season for both Aranda and the program’s future.
Baylor has struggled with consistency in Big 12 play during Aranda’s tenure. The Bears have posted a winning conference record in just two seasons. Additionally, he has won just one bowl game.
After their showdown with Arizona, the Bears will close the regular season at home against the No. 22 Houston Cougars, a matchup that could help build confidence heading into the offseason.
