Week 13 of the college football season is upon us, as we are in store for another exciting weekend of Big 12 action. I thought it would be fun to rank the games based on my interest each week. Between big-time matchups, total duds, and everything in between, here are my best-to-worst games for the weekend.
#11 BYU at Cincinnati
Two weeks ago, this may have been the biggest game in the country. But with back to back losses for Cincinnati, this game lost a bit of luster. However, that doesn’t mean it still is a very important games for both teams. BYU is still working on securing a spot in the Big 12 title game as they are sitting in second place at the moment. Meanwhile, this is a must win for Cincy’s last chance to just keep their Big 12 title race hopes alive. Without a doubt, this is by far the biggest game in the conference this weekend.
TCU at Houston
Out of all the games this weekend, this one has the closest spread with Houston being a slight favorite. While Houston doesn’t control their own destiny, this is still a chance to keep their slim Big 12 chances afloat. Plus, a win here would mean one step closer to a ten win season for Willie Fritz. As for TCU, this game will go a long way for Sonny Dykes to help try and save his job at the end of the season.
Kansas State at #12 Utah
I know the Utes are favored by over two touchdowns but they are still one of the few teams left that have a legitimate shot at making it to Arlington. Kansas State has been a total disappointment this season but Utah can’t afford to let their season go down the drain by sleep walking on Saturday. Even if Utah doesn’t make the championship game, they still could sneak into the playoff with their current ranking.
Baylor at Arizona
Let’s be real here, this game is all about Dave Aranda. It was announced on Friday that Aranda would be coming back to the Bears in 2026. So how fired up does this team look on Saturday in Tucson? It’s a great chance for Aranda to showcase he’s up for the job in 2026. Meantime, Arizona is trying to finish the season strong in what has been a great turnaround from the 4-8 season in 2024.
#25 Arizona State at Colorado
Even thought the Sun Devils are banged up, they somehow still have a puncher’s chance of getting back to Jerry World. Of course they would have to take care of business against Colorado and need a ton of help, but hey, crazy things have happened before in this whacky conference. Also, I am curious to see Julian Lewis play again for Colorado to see if he really is the future at quarterback in Boulder.
Kansas at Iowa State
Outside of bragging rights, there is not much at stake in Ames on Saturday. Lance Leipold has a three game winning streak against Matt Campbell which is actually the longest losing streak against current Big 12 teams for coach Campbell. Neither team has been very good this season but I can assure you that these two schools don’t like one another which should be somewhat entertaining to watch.
Oklahoma State at UCF
If you are willing to watch this game then you my friend are a true Big 12 fan. I do have an interest in this one because earlier this week I predicted that the Cowboys would win and end a nearly two year drought for winning a conference game. For that reason alone, I am going to be fully locked into this one like a sicko.
