Well, here we go again. Jackson Arnold is back in the transfer portal.
The former Oklahoma quarterback, who just wrapped up a one-year stint at Auburn, is on the move once more. After transferring out of Norman following the 2024 season, Arnold headed to the SEC looking for a fresh start. What he found instead was a whole lot of instability, a coaching change, and a quick reminder that the grass isn’t always greener.
Arnold’s year at Auburn was fine, if not forgettable. He threw for just over 1,300 yards with six touchdowns and a couple of picks. He added eight scores on the ground, which gave Tigers fans something to cheer for early on, but the offense sputtered late, and his grip on the starting job loosened down the stretch. Then came the coaching change, and with Alex Golesh stepping in, the writing was on the wall.
Now, with the portal open and options out there, Arnold is officially back on the market. No drama, no Instagram videos, just news: Jackson Arnold is transferring again.
Let’s not pretend like this isn’t notable. Arnold was a five-star quarterback out of Denton Guyer, and at one point was thought to be the future of Oklahoma’s offense. Things never fully clicked in Norman, and after one season in Auburn, it’s clear he still hasn’t found the right fit.
There’s still time, though. He’s got eligibility left, decent tape, and the kind of athleticism that’ll get another look. But at this point, he needs more than a new jersey. He needs a place where he can start fresh and actually develop. Because the tools are still there. What’s missing is stability.
The former Sooner hasn’t been linked to any landing spots yet, but don’t be surprised if a Group of Five team or a lower-tier Power Four program rolls out the red carpet. Quarterbacks with SEC starts under their belt don’t sit in the portal long.
For now, Arnold’s just the latest name in a portal cycle that doesn’t slow down. But he’s still a name worth watching, especially for Big 12 fans who remember when he was supposed to be the next guy in Norman.
