Former Texas Longhorn Said He Was Drunk For Several Games as a Pro

NCAA Football: Texas at West Virginia

Well, this one dropped out of left field on social media on Monday. Former Texas Longhorns star and former San Diego Chargers cornerback Quentin Jammer admitted on X Monday that he played “[expletive] faced drunk” in at least eight games back in 2011, when he was trying to cope with personal issues.

At the time, Jammer had been going through a divorce and was “mentally shot,” he told the San Diego Union-Tribune back in 2012.

“I would try to shake myself out of it, get the cobwebs out and just think,” Jammer added, per NFL.com. “But there were so many things to deal with, so much was going through my head. I couldn’t focus.”

While it’s wild to think that Jammer managed to play 15 games that season if he was indeed drunk for at least half of them, his performance dipped that season. He allowed 10 touchdowns and 10.5 yards per attempt. Jammer would only play two more years before calling it a career.

As a Texas Longhorn, Jammer was a star, being named All-Big 12 in 2000 and 2001, along with being named a Unanimous All-American in 2001. He was then the No. 5 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft with the San Diego Chargers. Jammer’s cousin is Cam Ward, the Tennessee Titans quarterback, who was the No. 1 pick of the 2025 NFL Draft.
