The Iowa State Cyclones have lost another All-Big 12 player to the transfer portal, as safety Jeremiah Cooper made his announcement on Sunday afternoon on social media. Cooper’s post thanked former head coach Matt Campbell and the Iowa State staff, adding his time at Iowa State has been “life changing because of the people around me and the city of Ames.”
The former three-star recruit added that he will “always carry the pride of being a Cyclone and cherish the memories I made here”.
Cooper only played in three games this season due to a season-ending knee injury. But in 2024, he was an Honorable Mention All-Big 12 selection. He played and started all 14 games and finished fourth on the team with 48 tackles, including one for a loss, along with two interceptions.
The weekend has seen several other Cyclones hit the transfer portal since Matt Campbell left for the Nittany Lions, with quarterback Rocco Becht the most notable name to announce he’s leaving Ames. New head coach Jimmy Rogers also saw veteran wide receiver Daniel Jackson hit the transfer portal, plus Jontez Williams.
The transfer portal officially opens up on January 2nd, 2026. The Cyclones turned down a bowl game after losing Campbell so now Rogers and his staff can work on all the key players they will need to replace in 2026.
