Kansas State is on the verge of making college basketball history, and it has absolutely nothing to do with banners or trophies. The Wildcats are one bad night away from completing the most bizarre stat line you’ll find all season: the full NET cycle.

Here’s what that means. K-State already has a win and a loss in Quad 1, Quad 2, Quad 3, and yes, even Quad 4. They’ve won and lost at home, on the road, and on a neutral floor. The only thing they’re missing is one more Q4 loss to wrap it all up. That’s right. The full cycle. Win and lose everywhere, against everyone.

If that sounds like chaos, it’s because it is. It takes a certain kind of team to pull this off. You have to be just good enough to beat somebody respectable and just inconsistent enough to let one of the worst teams on your schedule sneak up and get you. Not many teams can hit that balance. Kansas State might have it.

Their next game? December 28th. UL Monroe comes to Bramlage. A true Q4 opponent. It’s the exact scenario they need to finish this thing. Nobody’s rooting for a loss, obviously, but if you’re the kind of person who finds beauty in dumb stats, you’ll be watching.

What makes this whole situation even better is how unintentional it is. Kansas State isn’t out here chasing weird milestones. They’ve just had the kind of season where you don’t know what you’re going to get. One night, they look like a tournament team. The next night, they can’t find a rhythm against a bottom-tier squad. They’ve had their moments, both good and bad. And that’s exactly why this cycle is even on the table.

It’s not a knock on the program. If anything, it’s kind of fascinating. They’ve lived the full college basketball experience already, and it’s still December. Some teams don’t even touch every quadrant in a season. K-State’s one bad game from hitting them all, and doing it before the new year.

So here we go. December 28th. Wildcats vs. Warhawks. All eyes on the dumbest stat line in the sport. Will they complete the cycle? Probably not. But just the fact that it’s in play makes it worth tuning in.
