Cincinnati Just Lost a Starting Wide Receiver to the Transfer Portal

NCAA Football: Houston at Cincinnati

Another day, another starter gone to the portal. Cincinnati wide receiver Caleb Goodie is officially moving on after a productive year in the Bearcats’ offense. Goodie was one of the team’s most consistent downfield threats in 2025, finishing with 29 catches for 484 yards and a touchdown while averaging nearly 17 yards per grab. For his career, he’s sitting at 919 receiving yards on 18 yards per catch.

Goodie wasn’t putting up monster numbers week in and week out, but when the Bearcats needed chunk plays, he was usually involved. For Cincinnati, the loss certainly stings. Pair that with the loss of Brendan Sorsby, and this Bearcat offense is going to look completely different in ’26.

You can’t really blame Goodie for testing the waters, though. The portal is what it is, and when you’ve got a resume with nearly a thousand yards at the Power Four level, somebody is going to come calling.

Now it’s on Cincinnati to reload. They’ve got young talent on the roster, but replacing a guy who has been that steady on the outside takes more than just hoping someone steps up. They’ll need to look to the portal aggressively to find someone who can handle that role without skipping a beat.

Losing Goodie doesn’t tank the offense, but it definitely shifts the plan. That’s life in college football right now. You build it up, the season ends, and then you hold your breath and see who sticks around.
