Colorado football made a move that goes a long way toward filling out the wide receiver room in Boulder. The Buffaloes landed Miami (Ohio) wide receiver Kam Perry out of the portal, and that’s a big pickup, especially after the group lost Omarion Miller earlier this offseason.
Perry nearly put up 1,000 yards this past season and did it while averaging right around 15 yards a catch. He was Miami (OH)’s go-to guy and played a big role in getting them to the MAC Championship Game. He also found the end zone six times during his junior campaign.
With Miller gone, Colorado needed a spark on the outside. Miller was one of the more promising wideouts in the Big 12, and losing him left a significant gap. Perry may not have the same long-term upside yet, but he’s experienced and knows how to get open. Deion Sanders and staff clearly wanted someone who could step in and be productive from the jump, and that’s exactly what they’re getting.
While no one is saying he has to be Omarion Miller or even Travis Hunter, adding a player with some big-time playmaking ability is always a plus, regardless of the conference level.
This move isn’t going to break the internet, but it’s a smart pickup. Colorado needed a dude who’s played a ton of snaps and made big plays, and they got one. Kam Perry isn’t a flashy name, but he’s a productive one, and at this point in the offseason, that might matter even more.
