Jimmy Rogers and the Iowa State Cyclones just made a big splash in the transfer portal with the addition of an elite offensive lineman.
On Monday afternoon, Auburn transfer DeAndre Carter announced his commitment to Iowa State and will have multiple years of eligibility remaining as a redshirt sophomore.
The 6-4, 345-pounder played every game this season at Auburn and was a key piece on their offensive line. Though the group struggled, they got the job done on the ground game, with the sixth-most yards per game of anyone in the SEC (176.8).
Coming out of Mater Dei High School in the Class of 2024, Carter was listed as a four-star prospect by the 247Sports index and checked in as the nation’s 197th-ranked player. He was also listed as the 10th-ranked interior offensive lineman and the 17th-ranked player in the state of California. After one season at Auburn, Carter is listed as the 744th-ranked available player in the transfer portal and the 51st-ranked player at his position.
While Rogers has lost a ton of players from the previous roster at Iowa State, the last few days have been pleasant in Ames. They’ve added a total of nine players already, featuring a cast of eight different three-stars and one unranked player. DeAndre Carter is the third offensive line commit of the group, joining three-star tackles Gavin Proudfoot and Maasai King.
