On Tuesday morning, the heater continued for Collin Klein and the Kansas State Wildcats, after adding seven prospects through the transfer portal on Monday.
This time, the Cats added arguably their best pickup of the year so far with the commitment of Second-Team Conference USA linebacker Mekhi Mason from Louisiana Tech.
Mason, a 6-foot-2 junior from Pembroke Pines, Florida, posted some impressive stats in 2025 with the Bulldogs. He was named to the All-Conference team for posting 68 total tackles, 3.5 sacks, and four pass breakups en route to an 8-5 record.
He is listed as a three-star prospect by the 247Sports index, the 439th-ranked player available in the portal, and the nation’s 26th-ranked linebacker. He started his career at Syracuse, committing as a three-star prospect in the Class of 2022, before transferring to Louisiana Tech.
The pick up goes a long way for Kansas State, a group that lost two key stars at the linebacker spot this offseason. For starters, veteran linebacker Des Purnell is out of eligibility after spending four years in Manhattan, and Austin Romaine has committed to Texas Tech. While it’s unclear what role Mekhi Mason will fill on defense, he’s sure to be a difference-maker wherever he lines up.
With the addition, Kansas State has now added a total of nine players through the portal, with high hopes to add more contributors in the near future.
