After a profilic first season at the Power Four level, Vanderbilt transfer and Kansas native Tre Richardson is reportedly including Collin Klein and Kansas State in his laundry list of visits while traversing the transfer portal.
On Thursday, Ryan Wallace of KC Sports Network reported the Wildcats are close to scheduling a visit with Richardson following his trip to Texas this weekend. Richardson stopped at Georgia on Tuesday before making his way to Louisville.
Tre Richardson’s History
Richardson, who led the Commodores in receiving with 806 yards and seven touchdowns, is the No. 10-ranked wide receiver in the transfer portal by 247 Sports. The 5-foot-10, 175-pound wideout made his jump to the SEC by way of Hutchinson Community College and D-II Washburn.
Richardson was a unanimous First Team All-MIAA honoree at Washburn in his hometown of Topeka, which includes his high school alma mater, Highland Park. Richardson was briefly committed to New Mexico State while in high school.
It’d be a fun, twist of fate if Richardson landed in Manhattan following Jayce Brown‘s exit and commitment to LSU in the SEC. Brown led the Wildcats in receiving with 712 yards and five touchdowns this past season. Factor in senior quarterback Avery Johnson returning, and Klein has himself an instantly likeable tandem through the air.
Kansas State has already begun replenishing its stock of targets for Johnson in 2026, including two more former SEC receivers in Izaiah Williams (Texas A&M) and Joshua Manning (Missouri).
