Oklahoma State Football is Now Ranked No. 1 in the Transfer Portal Rankings

NCAA Football: Cincinnati at Oklahoma State

Oklahoma State just took over the top spot in the transfer portal rankings, and it’s not hard to see why. The Cowboys have passed Penn State for the No. 1 portal class in the country, stacking up a total of 34 transfers that include one five-star, four four-stars, and 29 three-stars. That’s not a typo. It’s a full-on overhaul, and it’s a clear sign that Eric Morris isn’t wasting any time building his vision in Stillwater.

A big piece of that class is coming straight from North Texas. Morris brought a crew of his best players with him, and that’s given Oklahoma State a head start most new coaches don’t get. These aren’t just warm bodies filling out the depth chart. These are guys who know the system, trust the staff, and already have chemistry with one another. That’s hard to find in the portal era, where most classes are pieced together from all over the place.

The headliner is obviously the five-star addition, Drew Mestemaker, but what really makes this class interesting is the depth. Bringing in 34 players is one thing. Doing it while still hitting on quality at every level of the roster is another. There’s experience, there’s production, and there’s a clear plan behind the moves. Morris isn’t just collecting talent; he’s building something that fits his style of play and puts his staff in a spot to compete right away.

For a program that’s been consistently solid but looking to take that next step, this is a bold way to do it. Oklahoma State needed a jolt after how things went last season, and now they’ve got one. You don’t bring in over 30 guys without expecting real change, and with how the Big 12 is shaping up, that kind of roster depth could matter more than ever.

It’s still early, and we’ve seen plenty of transfer classes look great in January and fall flat in the fall, but this is different. There’s a foundation here, and there’s a lot of buy-in from players who already believe in the system. Morris is betting on his guys, and so far, they’re betting on him too.
