From Georgia to Kansas State: The Wildcats Have a New Transfer Safety

Collin Klein and the Kansas State Wildcats added a new player to their transfer portal class on Monday morning, with the commitment of former Georgia defensive back Adrian Maddox.

Maddox, a 6-foot-1 safety from Conyers, Georgia, spent one season with the Bulldogs and redshirted after three games. Prior to his time in Athens, Maddox was a baller in the AAC with the UAB Blazers and the Alabama State Hornets.

In his four-year career, Maddox recorded 118 tackles, 15 pass breakups, three sacks, four forced fumbles, three interceptions, and one 99-yard pick-six. While the Georgia native is unranked this portal cycle on 247Sports, On3 has him listed as a three-star prospect, checking in as the portal’s 425th-ranked player and the 39th-ranked safety overall.

Shortly after Maddox’s commitment, the Wildcats added Oregon running back transfer Jay Harris, a 6-foot-2, 224-pound senior from St. Louis, Missouri. He recorded 42 carries for 151 yards last season with the Ducks and reached paydirt twice.

With the additions, Kansas State has now added a total of 19 prospects through the portal this cycle, in an effort to build depth after recent departures. Will Harris and Maddox become key contributors for the Cats this fall? It’s tough to say right now, but anytime you’re able to add transfers with Power Four experience, both of which advanced to the College Football Playoff, it should be a no-brainer.
