Tuesday night’s matchup between Kansas State and Utah in Manhattan, Kansas, is shaping up to look slightly different from what was initially expected, and the injury report explains why.
Notable players on both squads are listed as probable, while a total of five players are set to miss the contest entirely.
The five players given the title of out are Utah’s Babacar Faye, Jacob Patrick, and Lucas Langarita, as well as Kansas State’s forward duo of Elias Rapieque and Mobi Ikegwuruka. As for probable players, both Utah’s Keanu Dawes and K-State’s Abdi Bashir are expected to go, but it will be more of a game-time decision on the pair.
Arguably, the two biggest pieces to note are those listed as probable, as Keanu Dawes has been one of Utah’s top scorers and rebounders this season. He currently leads the team with 9.1 rebounds per game, and is third in scoring with 12.5 PPG.
As for Kansas State, it’s safe to say they’ve been a mess. Still, Abdi Bashir remains productive and is without question a three-point specialist for Jerome Tang’s crew. In just 24.7 MPG, Bashir is the second-leading scorer for K-State, averaging 13.2 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game. He’s also connecting on 44.4% of shots from three-point range, his best shooting numbers to date.
The Wildcats and Utes are a combined 1-9 in conference play, with Utah holding the lone win for both squads. The Wildcats enter the game as 8.5-point favorites at home, and for better or worse, it’ll be an interesting one to follow.
