Shedeur Sanders is Now Headed to the NFL Pro Bowl

Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders (12) throws a pass in the first quarter of the NFL Week 18 game between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Cleveland Browns at Paycor Stadium in Downtown Cincinnati on Sunday, Jan. 4, 2026.

In a wild twist not many expected to see, Cleveland quarterback Shedeur Sanders is headed to the NFL Pro Bowl game between the AFC and NFC. He’s a replacement for a long line of injured quarterbacks and Drake Maye, who’s headed to the Super Bowl. Josh Allen and Justin Herbert were the other two chosen, but each dealt with injuries down the stretch, keeping them sidelined.

Now, here’s the fun part.

Did Sanders Deserve It?

In his rookie season with the Browns, Sanders struggled, a TON. In eight games this season, Sanders posted 120 completions for 1400 yards and a touchdown-to-interception ratio of 7-10. Also, he posted one of the worst quarterback ratings of any quarterback in 2025, with a QBR of 18.9… To take it one step further, according to Kalshi Sports, since 2006, a total of 696 quarterbacks have thrown 200+ pass attempts. Shedeur Sanders’ 18.9 QBR this year ranks as the 692nd highest QBR out of those 696 quarterbacks.

Of all the notable names he was placed ahead of, one big one stands out: fellow rookie quarterback Cam Ward of the Tennessee Titans. Look, the Titans stunk, don’t get it twisted, but that’s not entirely on Ward. The former No. 1 overall pick, when compared to Sanders, was hardly a comparison outside of the fact that they play the same position as rookies. In terms of numbers, Ward recorded 3,169 passing yards, the 17th-most in the league, a touchdown-to-interception ratio of 15-7, and a QBR of 33.1. Still not incredible, but a much, much better season than Shedeur Sanders. That’s not even to mention players like Trevor Lawrence, Aaron Rodgers, Lamar Jackson, or Joe Burrow.

You be the judge!
