Well, that’s not a title you see every day! We here at Heartland College Sports love the Big 12 and everything about it. That said, we don’t get to tackle much hockey coverage. Today, that changes, as we’ve got some good ole fashion hockey beef to discuss!
This time, a video came across our feed of North Dakota hockey coach Dane Jackson hyping up his locker room while roasting Arizona State in the process. The two clashed in a two-game series that UND swept with a 7-4 win on January 23rd, followed by a 5-3 win one day later.
In the video, Jackson can be heard saying, “You sign up to play hockey in Grand Forks, no part of you wants it easy. Why do you choose it? You choose it for the hockey. You want to grow and get better, that’s why you pick it. You sign up to play hockey in ASU, you want it a little bit f****** easier. Funny enough, that’s how they f****** play.”
Say what you will about the stray shot thrown at Arizona State, but this is true hockey culture. It’s trash talk, fights, energy, determination, and a whole lot of hatred for one another.
If you’re an ASU fan, sure, it stinks to get called out and then beat down on the ice, but for better or worse, the Big 12 hockey scene continues to elevate, and it’s as new and exciting as ever.
