Among the top Baylor Bears in the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft in April, All-Big 12 tight Michael Trigg put together a 6.32 prospect grade ahead of the league’s combine next week. The three-time transfer was a bright spot on an otherwise disappointing 5-7 finish for Baylor in 2025 and might just become Dave Aranda‘s first name off the board.
Draft analyst Lance Zierlein raved about Trigg’s “rare arm length” and ability to win vertically against linebackers, two variables that served him well in his final two seasons of college eligibility after beginning his career at USC and Ole Miss.
Trigg scored in the range of an eventual starter, although his potential hinders on weaknesses described as “route redirection” and a lack of movement atop his route. But Trigg is anything but stationary, and has assembled a highlight reel that looks anything but the typical tape of a tight end.
In just two seasons in Waco, Trigg tallied 80 receptions for 1,089 yards and nine touchdowns; In 2025, Trigg was the leading tight end target for quarterback Sawyer Robinson, a projected Day-3 pick alongside his fellow teammate in the coming draft.
Trigg is projected to go either on the second or third day of the draft, and there’s a few teams out there in step with what Trigg brings as a downhill target. In a season or two, it’s not improbable that he’d be competing for a starting job somewhere.
The Carolina Panthers, Jacksonville Jaguars, Detroit Lions, Indianapolis Colts, New York Giants and Philadelphia Eagles are all increasingly scouting the tight end position entering next week’s combine.
