Iowa State Cyclones

This Shot at Iowa State by a Penn State Reporter Doesn’t Even Make Sense

With Rocco Becht now the quarterback at Penn State after transferring from Iowa State, apparently Penn State reporters think Becht went from a third-world country to Madison Square Garden. In fact, Ames’ population is about 50% larger than State College, PA. But who’s counting?

Anyway, this post on X from 247Sports reporter Mark Brennan drew the ire of Iowa State fans, rightfully so.

First off, when you watch the clip of Becht, he clearly is just expressing being caught off guard by where his set up was with the media. He was not in shock and awe due to the size and scope of the gaggle of reporters.

“I thought this was a media table,” he says. Someone says, “This isn’t Iowa State.” Becht simply responds, “Yeah.” What’s he supposed to say to that? “Thanks, Captain Obvious”?

He then goes on to explain how he was actually confused as to where he was supposed to be set up for the Q&A, not that he was blown away by the media presence, which by the way, includes about 4 microphones in the shot.

Iowa State Responds

Brennan doubled-down with this perspective.

And that led to Cyclone Fanatic’s Jake Brend sharing a photo of Rocco Becht with a gaggle of reporters from his time at Iowa State. This is such a great own!

I have no idea what Penn State reporters are going for on this one, but this comes off like a classic example of trying to hard. Then again, that’s been a Penn State problem for a long time.
