The Kansas Jayhawks saw their NCAA Tournament run end in the second round on a buzzer-beater by the St. John’s Red Storm. It was Dylan Darling’s drive to the basket with the game tied at 65 that ended KU’s 2025-26 season.
Here’s a look at the shot.
Kansas stormed back from being down 52-40 with under 10 minutes to play to tie the game in the final seconds on two free throws from Darryn Peterson. Kansas fouled three times with the game tied at 65 to get to six team fouls. And then, with St. John’s getting the ball at half court, it was the Red Storm’s Dylan Darling driving to the hole for the game-winner. It was his first basket of the game, as he was 0-4 before the final shot of the game.
For Kansas, Darryn Peterson finished with 21 points on 5-15 shooting, along with four rebounds and four blocks. Melvin Council was second on the team in scoring with 15 points.
With the win, St. John’s is going to the Sweet 16 for the first time since 1999. This makes it four-straight seasons without a trip to the Sweet 16 for the Jayhawks since their National Championship in 2022.
St. John’s moves on to take on the Duke Blue Devils next week in the East Regional semifinal game.
