The Big 12 Conference had another top selection in the WNBA Draft and for the second straight year that player came from TCU.
Olivia Miles, who played one season with the Horned Frogs after playing at Notre Dame, was the No. 2 overall player selected, going to the Minnesota Lynx.
Last year TCU guard Hailey Van Lith, who also played just one season for the Horned Frogs, was taken No. 11 overall by the Chicago Sky. Miles joins a Lynx team that has won four WNBA titles in its franchise history, the last coming in 2017.
Miles was expected to be a Top 3 pick in last year’s WNBA Draft before she opted to stay in school and transfer from Notre Dame to TCU, where she was name the Big 12 Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year as she helped the Horned Frogs win the Big 12 regular season title for the second straight year.
She also led TCU to the Elite Eight for the second straight year.
“It’s an incredible feeling,” Miles said. “The anticipation is unlike anything I’ve felt before.”
With the Horned Frogs, she became the second player to earn first team All-American honors in program history. She averaged a triple-double for the first three games of the NCAA Tournament with 26 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists. That included 30 points, 26 rebounds and 22 assists against UC San Diego and Washington in the first two rounds, which was the first 30-20-20 two-game run in the NCAA Tournament since Nicole Powell did so at Stanford in 2002.
She finished her collegiate career as the only player in NCAA history who has tallied at least 2,100 career points, 875 assists, 850 rebounds and 225 steals. She also finished her career as one of five players in NCAA history alongside Sabrina Ionescu, Caitlin Clark, Courtney Vandersloot and Katie Dinnebier to record 700 points and 240 assists in a season.
No other Big 12 players were selected in the first round, but her teammate, Marta Suarez, was the first player off the board in the second round to the Seattle Storm. Suarez averaged career-highs in points per game (17.3), rebounds per game (7.4), field goal percentage (.460) and 3-point percentage (.379) in 2025-26. She was also one of only six players in the country with at least 625 points and 275 rebounds.
Right after Suarez was selected, she was traded to Golden State in a trade that netted Seattle LSU star Flau’jae Johnson.
Baylor forward Darianna Littlepage-Buggs was taken No. 30 overall by the Washington Mystics at the end of the second round. She was the only player in the Big 12 to finish the season with a double-double and was one of five selections by the Mystics in the first two rounds.
The Portland Fire selected TCU’s Taylor Bigby in the third round at No. 37 overall. Portland is one of two expansion franchises this season, along with the Toronto Tempo. Utah’s Lani White was the final pick of the draft, as she was selected No. 45 overall by the Minnesota Lynx.
