BYU men’s basketball is reportedly signing itself up for a non-conference matchup with San Diego State, on Saturday, Dec. 19, 2026, at Acrisure Arena in Palm Springs, California, according multiple sources.
Kevin Young and the Cougars are set to contest their former Mountain West counterpart for the first time since November 10, 2023, when Dallin Hall’s 18 points led BYU over the Aztecs 74-65 during their first season as a member of the Big 12. San Diego State is set to become a member of the newly aligned Pac-12 Conference this summer.
Neither school has confirmed the matchup yet.
No. 11 Texas upset No. 6 BYU 79-71 in the NCAA Tournament to bring Young’s second season with the Cougars to an end at 23-12 (9-9 Big 12). The Aztecs, finishing 22-11 overall and falling short of Utah State 73-62 in the Mountain West title game, missed the dance for the first time following five consecutive trips since the 2019-20 season.
