Three Big 12 Transfer Stars Still On the Market

Syndication: The Ames Tribune

As of next Tuesday, the men’s college basketball transfer portal will officially close, and there are still a few Big 12 names to know on the big board.

Iowa State forward Milan Momcilovic, Arizona State center Massamba Diop and Cincinnati center Moustapha Thiam are all still without a deal as the portal swings into its final weekend. On Friday, On3 included all three bigs among their top 10 remaining transfers.

Milan Momcilovic, PF

Momcilovic not committing right away hasn’t exactly been a surprise. The Peqaukee, Wisconsin, native entered the NBA Draft as a projected mid-to-late second-round pick and the transfer portal. Momcilovic was 50.6% from the floor with 16.9 points per game, including 48.7% beyond the arc.

It’s hard not to be interested in where Momcilovic ends up, because if it’s not the NBA, we’re talking about a mad dash to secure the former Cyclone.

Massamba Diop, C

Upon Bobby Hurley’s exit at Arizona State, Diop, too, jumped ship for his next move following a strong freshman campaign with 13.6 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game. Diop, the No. 3 best available recruit in the portal by On3, is set to visit Gonzaga over the weekend.

Diop came to Arizona State from Senegal, but spent the majority of his career in Spain before enrolling. Diop is formerly of Real Madrid’s development team.

Moustapha Thiam, C

Cincinnati’s 7-foot-2 center, Moustapha Thiam, is looking for his third school and won’t be around for Jerrod Calhoun’s first season as head coach of the Bearcats.

Thiam took a visit to St. John’s earlier this week, but didn’t leave there sold on the Johnnies or what Rick Pitino had to offer. Thiam’s considering offers from UConn, Gonzaga, Arkansas, Duke, Kansas, Michigan State, Texas A&M, Tennessee, and UCF, according to college hoops insider Jeff Goodman.
