Kalani Sitake and BYU have their third commit in the Class of 2027.
Four-star Tustin, California, defensive lineman Jeremiah Williams is committed to BYU, according to multiple reports on Thursday.
Williams’ commitment to the Cougars is a recruiting win on behalf of defensive coordinator Kelly Poppinga and associate head coach Sione Po’uha. The 6-foot even, 315-pound tackle is the No. 42 lineman in his class, and the No. 31 recruit out of California.
BYU fought off competing interest from Texas Tech and neighboring Utah, but the Big 12 wasn’t the only conference after Williams on the recruiting trail.
Williams held offers from Texas A&M and USC, two schools that certainly competed with the likes of BYU when it comes to the four-star tackle. Williams is a multisport athlete and even sees action out of the backfield at Tustin High School, according to Gabe Brooks of 247Sports.
The BYU defensive line ranked 19th nationally in scoring defense (19.1 points per game) and allowed 308.8 total yards per game as a unit. The Cougars promoted Poppinga to defensive coordinator earlier this year.
