Even with all the chaos surrounding Brendan Sorsby over the last few weeks, including his parting of ways with Tech on Monday, followed by his entry into the NFL Supplemental Draft, one thing hasn’t changed: there is interest at the next level. And according to his former head coach, NFL teams have already been reaching out.

Cincinnati head coach Scott Satterfield spoke with local media on Tuesday, and despite the gambling controversy, lawsuits, and everything else that’s followed Sorsby, there’s still going to be a real market for him at the next level.

In fact, Satterfield didn’t just sound optimistic. He sounded confident.

The head coach said, “Yeah, there certainly have been scouts, GM’s, that have reached out, and just asking questions, more on a personal level than a football level, with their interest, knowing something like this could happen. I certainly think that now that the news is out, over the next few weeks, there’s going to be a lot more inquiries about him.”

Satterfield added, “Great guy, great teammate, works hard. Gave it his all. Just obviously an unfortunate thing that happened with him, and hopefully he will learn from it and grow from it.”

Brendan Sorsby was a two-year starter at Cincinnati and put up big-time production in both seasons. In 2024, he led the Bearcats to a 7–6 record, throwing for 2,813 yards with 18 touchdowns and 7 interceptions while adding 447 rushing yards and 9 scores on the ground.

He followed that up with an even better 2025 season, passing for 2,800 yards and 27 touchdowns to just 5 interceptions, plus 580 rushing yards and 9 more TDs. The Bearcats went 7-5 last season, starting off 7-1, before losing four games in a row to end the season.

All told, Sorsby accounted for 45 passing TDs and 18 rushing scores in two seasons, cementing himself as one of the Big 12’s top dual-threat quarterbacks the past two seasons.

The 2026 NFL Supplemental Draft does not have a set date, but it is expected to take place in late July. The exact date is chosen after the June 22 deadline for players to submit their eligibility paperwork.
