Two of Provo’s own are heading to Salt Lake City. On Monday, three-star linebacker Fui Vakapuna committed to the Utah Utes. Vakapuna is one of the top linebackers in the region and earned LB MVP honors at the Under Armour Next Camp in Utah back in April. Meantime, also on Monday, Ian Aloisio committed to play for the Utes. He was one of the more sought-after in-state offensive line targets in the 2027 class. At 6-foot-4 and around 280 pounds, Aloisio plays tackle in high school, but projects as an interior lineman at the next level. The two Timpview standouts will be joining the Utes together.
Ian Aloisio is ranked as the the No. 7 player in Utah, while also being a Top 40 interior offensive lineman, per 247Sports.
Vakapuna was down to choosing either Utah or Cal, but told On3, “Ever since I was a kid I wanted to play for Utah. This is a dream for me, having the opportunity to play for your childhood favorite, I couldn’t pass that up.”
Vakapuna is listed by 247Sports as the No. 64 linebacker in the nation, along with being a Top 10 player in the state of Utah. Along with Utah and Cal, he took official visits to Colorado and Colorado State.
The Utes received help on both sides of the ball and strengthened Morgan Scalley’s 2027 class. Utah’s class now ranks in the top half of the Big 12 Conference and is ranked just outside the Top 40 nationally, per 247.
