Bacon Bits (Iowa State Recruiting Notes)

Good morning Cyclone fans, I hope you are hungry. Hungry for some bacon because who the hell isn’t always hungry for bacon? Ok, it isn’t real bacon, but this is my new feature for Iowa State recruiting tidbits I have during the week. Anything on my mind or anything that doesn’t go on my recruiting big boards will be posted here as “Bacon Bits”. Whether you like it crispy, chewy or somewhere in-between. This should satisfy your need for Iowa State recruiting news and unlike those "other" sites, we won't charge you 9 bucks a month or even a dollar a month. It's ABSOLUTELY FREE as always. This morning, I'll talk about Iowa State's newest 2020 commit as well as 2020 DT Dylan Davis Iowa State offer.

3-Star RB Miyan Williams (Cincinnati, OH)

Fireworks weren't the only thing going off on Thursday night because Iowa State got their first 2020 running back commit thanks to Miyan Williams out of Ohio. Miyan had a top 7 and chose the Cyclones over schools like Purdue, Cinci, Minnesota, Maryland, Michigan and Kansas. Standing at 5'10 210 pounds, Miyan shows on film that he isn't going down easy. It takes more than one defender to bring him down and although he doesn't look like he is running that fast, he is moving and has some solid speed for his size. He doesn't shy away from contact and he could be a true bell cow running back if Iowa State can get him at his full potential at the collegiate level. This is a great take for Iowa State and much like the Jordyn Morgan commitment from last night, I think this guy is a under the radar prospect that can really pan out. Warning, if you watch his hudl your eyes may hurt a little. Not because of his play but whoever was working the camera for his game film may need to find a new duty.

2020 New Offers

In the last "Bacon Bits" I did I mentioned some new 2020 offers that went out and I had the chance to speak with both 3-Star DE Devin Grant (San Antonio, TX) and DT Dylan Davis (Bradenton, FL). Devin is currently committed to Colorado and while he was excited for the offer, he wasn't sure how it would impact his current commitment to Colorado. Like I mentioned Wednesday night, this is a guy to keep an eye on. It appears that Iowa State's trip to the Alamo Bowl last season is starting to really pay off with some of these kids in my area which is good because San Antonio has always been under recruited and has been a pipeline for Oklahoma State over the past few years. Now, DT Dylan Davis told me that he "Was extremely excited" to receive the offer and his current offer list is now Iowa State, Army, Cornell and Furman. Iowa State doesn't have a 2020 defensive tackle commit right now so this is a VERY important offer for the Cyclones.

That's all I have for this morning and if anything, else comes up, I'll be right here posting about it as "Bacon Bits". On Sunday, I will release my 2021 Defensive targets and there will be PLENTY of quotes from 2021 defensive prospects giving their thoughts on the Cyclones. I hope y'all had a great fourth of July and a great weekend. See you Sunday right here on our message boards and thanks for reading.
