There is no change after Appalachian State defeats Louisiana-Lafayette. The Ragin' Cajuns drop to third in their division, but Texas State and Louisiana-Monroe are currently 2-3 with 1-0 Sun Belt records. They are ineligible for a bowl game. UL Lafayette also has the second best overall record, thus the Sun Belt Conference rewards them by facing a team from The American in Orlando.

Appalachian State is currently receiving votes. They have a solid chance to enter the AP Top 25 Sunday, but that's still far off from No.14 Boise State who can strengthen their ranking if they avoid the upset from Hawaii. Cincinnati, Memphis and SMU are also ahead of Appalachian State. All three will need to lose for the Mountaineers to have a shot at the Cotton Bowl.

By the way, Texas State and Louisiana-Monroe play each other Thursday. The winner will be atop the Sun Belt's West Division at 2-0 and have a .500 overall record. The winner of this game will replace Arkansas State for the week. The Red Wolves do not play again until Thursday, October 17.

NEW OPPONENT FOR TEXAS: Virginia's loss to Miami (FL) knocks them out of the Orange Bowl. Wake Forest replaces them. Virginia is now in the Camping World Bowl against Texas.

North Carolina State shoots up the ACC bowl rankings and becomes a first tier team with their Thursday victory over Syracuse. The Wolfpack entered the week as a fill-in for the SEC in the Birmingham Bowl. NC State is now in the Music City Bowl. Pitt goes to the Pinstripe Bowl. Duke is now a second tier team because of their loss to Pitt and NC State holding a better overall record. Duke is now in the Quick Lane Bowl. Because Boston College is .500, they are now left at home. Nevada takes over the SEC's slot in the Birmingham Bowl. Because Syracuse lost, they are now 3-3 and are left at home. They filled Conference USA's slot in the Bahamas Bowl. Liberty is the final team with a winning record and scores that bowl.

Assuming Oregon holds on to a 38-3 lead after three quarters, this just strengthens the Ducks stronghold on their Rose Bowl Berth. Colorado is out of the bowl picture. They now have a 3-3 record and are 1-2 in the Pac-12. There are not enough bowl slots to fit them in.

UL Monroe defeated Texas State Thursday night. The Warhawks knock out Arkansas State in the Camelia Bowl. The Red Wolves are now out of the bowl picture and do not play this weekend.

Colorado State vs. New Mexico did not have an impact on the bowl picture as both teams have losing records.
