Izaiah Brockington Is Named Big 12 Men’s Player of Week
Iowa State guard Izaiah Brockington was the Big 12 Men’s Player of the Week for the second straight week, which was announced on Monday.
In addition, Texas forward Timmy Allen was named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Week.
This is Brockington’s fourth player of the week award and his sixth overall weekly honor of the season. He also has two newcomer of the week honors. This is the first time that Allen has been named newcomer of the week.
Brockington averaged averaged 26 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.5 steals in wins over West Virginia and Kansas State. Against West Virginia he had a career-high five 3-pointers. With Brockington, the Cyclones have won four games in a row and now have 20 wins this season.
Allen and Texas won both games last week, and Allen’s play helped Texas made double-digit second-half comebacks in both games. He ended the week with an average of 21.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals. His bigger game came against West Virginia, where he had 26 points, 10 rebounds, three assists, two blocks and a steal in 36 minutes.
