All-Big 12 Teams, Major Awards Announced by League

NCAA Basketball: West Virginia at Kansas

The Big 12 Conference has announced all of its postseason awards Sunday afternoon. Notably among those, Kansas forward Jalen Wilson was named the unanimous Player of the Year and Kansas State’s Jerome Tang the Coach of the Year.

Both schools are represented with at least one other major selection. The league tabbed Kansas guard Dajuan Harris as the Defensive Player of the Year and forward K.J. Adams Jr. as the Most Improved Player, with Kansas State forward Keyontae Johnson given the nod for Newcomer of the Year. Others include Baylor guard Keyonte George as Freshman of the Year and Texas guard Sir’Jabari Rice with the Sixth Man Award.

The All-Big 12 First Team features both Johnson and Wilson. The pair are joined by Baylor guard Adam Flagler, Kansas State guard Markquis Nowell and Texas guard Marcus Carr.

 

The All-Big 12 Second Team includes George, along with Iowa State guard Gabe Kalscheur, Kansas guard Gradey Dick and TCU guards Damion Baugh and Mike Miles Jr. Third Team recipients feature Rice, plus Baylor guard LJ Cryer, Kansas guard Kevin McCullar, Oklahoma State forward Kalib Boone and West Virginia guard Erik Stevenson.

Oklahoma State forward Moussa Cisse joins Kalscheur, Harris, McCullar and Nowell on the Big 12 All-Defensive Team. The All-Newcomer Team includes Iowa State guard Jaren Holmes, along with Dick, George, Johnson and Rice.

Finally, the Big 12 All-Freshman Team features three other new players that have not yet been mentioned, with Iowa State guard Tamin Lipsey, Oklahoma guard Milos Uzan and Texas Tech guard Pop Isaacs on there. The trio accompanies Dick and George.

 

Play begins in the Big 12 Tournament this upcoming Wednesday, after Kansas was crowned the regular season champion.
