Three-Star TE Cooper Alexander Commits to Iowa State

NCAA Football: Fiesta Bowl-Oregon vs Iowa State

The Iowa State Cyclones landed another player in the class of 2024 on Friday with the commitment of three-star tight end Cooper Alexander.

Matt Campbell and the Cyclones made a big push to get Alexander on campus, and in doing so, they fought off the likes of Oklahoma, Colorado, Texas A&M, Stanford, and more, who all expressed interest in the senior tight end.

Alexander is listed as a three-star prospect by the 247Sports index as well as the nation’s 763rd-ranked player in the class of 2024. He also checks in as the 35th-ranked tight end in the country, and the fifth-ranked prospect in the state of Oklahoma.

While Iowa State’s offense has been a bit lackluster over the past few seasons, the addition of Cooper Alexander is a massive help for offensive coordinator Nate Scheelhaase. While this is his sixth season in Ames, Scheelhaase is entering his first season as offensive coordinator for the Cyclones after being elevated to the position in December of 2022.

While Alexander isn’t set to step onto the field with the Cyclones until the 2024 season, the Oklahoma native will get a chance to see his future team in action on September 2nd when Iowa State kicks off their 2023 campaign against UNI with hopes of rebounding from the previous 4-8 season.
