UCF Adds Tulane K Kriston Esnard in Transfer Portal

While a kicker might night be viewed as the sexiest pick-up of the offseason in the transfer portal, the UCF Knights added a great one in Tulane transfer Kriston Esnard.

Esnard played for the Tulane Green Wave last season and had a 50% make percentage on his field goal attempts, and while that may sound great at face value, the sophomore kicker only attempted six field goals on the year.

A 50% field goal percentage might not be something to write home about, but where Esnard made his money last season was on extra points. The Georgia native went 20-20 and didn’t miss a single extra point for the entire duration of the season. While Knocking in a chip shot field goal from the two-yard line might sound like an easy task at first, when you realize the pressure that comes with being a kicker at the Division 1 level, having an experienced player on special teams can make all the difference in the world.

Coming out of high school Esnard was listed as a two-star prospect by the 247Sports index, as well as the 7th-ranked kicker in the class of 2019. He also checked in as the 212th-ranked player in his home state of Georgia.

Esnard now teams up with head football coach Gus Malzahn in Orlando as the newest member of the UCF Knights football team, and in one week’s time, he’ll get to sport a Big 12 logo on the chest of his jersey.
