While the fans of the Kansas Jayhawks and Kansas State Wildcats only get to witness the Sunflower Showdown twice a year on the basketball court in most cases, a pair of former rivals had an impromptu rematch in the NBA’s G League.
Former Jayhawk Jalen Wilson took the court as a member of the Long Island Nets for a game against Raptors 905, led by former Wildcat Markquis Nowell on Friday night where the pair absolutely showed out.
The duo both finished as leading scores for their teams with Jalen Wilson leading all scorers with 33 points and 10 rebounds while Markquis Nowell finished one rebound shy of a triple-double with 19 points, 13 assists, and nine boards.
Wilson and the Nets got the last laugh in the end taking down Nowell and the Raptors 123-120 in the debut of both former members of the Big 12 Conference.
Wilson and Nowell met in several big time matchups between the Wildcats and Jayhawks back in college, and with both players making names for themselves at the NBA level, the Big 12 Conference’s impact on professional basketball continues to grow on a nightly basis.
