Look: Cosmo Cougar’s Heartfelt Goodbye to Pop-Tarts Bowl Mascot
While BYU‘s Cosmo Cougar has been one of the best mascots in college sports for a number of years now, Cosmo took time on social media to post a heartfelt goodbye to one of the greatest of all time.
Cosmo released a post, mourning the loss of Strawberry, the legendary mascot from the 2023 Pop-Tarts Bowl who was eaten by the Kansas State Wildcats after defeating the NC State Wolfpack 28-19.
According to some well-known information about Pop-Tarts, every Pop-Tart’s dream is to be toasted and eaten. Despite knowing Strawberry’s outcome heading into the matchup, Cosmo honored his fellow mascot by saying, “Before the game, I want to take a moment of silence to recognize one of the best to ever do it. RIP King.”
Strawberry took over the internet, bowl season, and the world of college sports with his appearance in the bowl game and even helped to contribute the largest viewership numbers of any bowl game this season, with 4.31 million viewers.
While Strawberry is gone, he will never be forgotten for his historic run. Cosmo Cougar and the rest of the mascot community will continue to mourn the loss of one of the G.O.A.T.s for years to come. RIP Strawberry.
