Baylor Emerges as Frontrunner for Duke Transfer Jeremy Roach: Report

NCAA Basketball: Arkansas-Pine Bluff at Baylor

The Baylor Bears have reportedly emerged as a frontrunner for Duke transfer Jeremy Roach, according to The Field of 68‘s Jeff Goodman.

Roach is one of the most coveted players in the transfer portal with the level of experience he has with the Blue Devils. He started 106 games in four seasons at Duke, earning third-team All-ACC honors as a senior and honorable mention All-ACC honors as a junior.

As a former McDonald’s All-American, Roach also has an elite skill set that could make his a dangerous addition to just about any roster in America.

As a senior, Roach averaged 14.0 points and 3.3 assists while shooting 42.9% from 3-point range — all career highs. He scored in double figures in all four NCAA tournament games, with Duke getting knocked out by NC State in the Elite Eight.

Baylor is just a week removed from suffering a scare with head coach Scott Drew, who was reportedly one of the top targets for the Kentucky Wildcats.

Baylor won the National Championship in 2021, but the last three seasons have been knocked out of the NCAA Tournament in the second round. Landing Roach in the transfer portal would put Baylor in a position to compete at the top of the Big 12 and make a deep run next March.
