With college football legend Johnny Manziel accepting a new role with Action Network HQ, his words are now echoed even further than before.

In a recent YouTube Video hosted by Manziel called “Johnny’s Intangibles,” the Heisman winner spoke on Colorado’s Travis Hunter and dubbed him the best player in the country.

“I think [Travis Hunter] is probably the best player in the country right now with what he’s doing week in and week out,” Manziel said. “As a Heisman voter, you are looking for those guys who are the most outstanding players, and it doesn’t really matter where they are or what their team is doing.”

Hunter has been sensational in 2024 and has found a way to live up to the astronomical offseason hype awarded his way. Offensively, Hunter has posted 472 yards and five scores with four straight 100+ yard performances. Defensively, the Georgia native has been a force for Colorado with 14 total tackles, two pass breakups, an interception, and a forced fumble.

“Obviously, [Hunter]  is going to have enough buzz, and I think if his numbers are there and he continues to make the impact that he’s making, I would expect to see him in New York in December,” Manziel said.

Hunter’s impact in Week 4 (seven catches for 130 yards) helped his team secure an incredible comeback win over Baylor, with himself and Shedeur Sanders willing the team to win. The team rallied back with a last-ditch Hail Mary attempt, which sent the game to overtime and allowed the Buffs to stampede back 38-31.

Hunter will have another opportunity to showcase his talent against one of the Big 12’s title contenders, UCF, on Saturday, September 28th, at 2:30 p.m. CT.
