Paul Finebaum Endorses Travis Hunter for Heisman

On Saturday, ESPN’s Paul Finebaum made a statement regarding the current standings for the Heisman Trophy, endorsing one Big 12 athlete above the rest.

That player is Colorado’s Travis Hunter, who has begun to take the lead in the race for the Heisman Trophy.

Finebaum began by downplaying Cam Ward’s impact on the Heisman, saying, “I am very much out, and we all know what he did yesterday, but it was against Duke. And don’t forget, while he was throwing touchdowns, the other guy, Travis Hunter, was on the campaign trail. He was in the key battleground state of Pennsylvania on College GameDay, and I think he may have helped his cause more with that audience than Cam did playing Duke in an early game.”

During Colorado’s bye week, Hunter made a stop at the College GameDay broadcast and Big Noon broadcast and campaigned himself for the Heisman.

“But I still think Travis Hunter, when he returns next week, will command the lead,” Finebaum continued. “We still have five weeks to go. All it takes is one bad outing, and the Heisman goes away quickly.”

While Hunter does have a small lead in the Heisman race, he has five more weeks to keep up his spectacular play. The Buffaloes return to action in Week 11 on Saturday, November 9th, vs. Texas Tech.
